I’m still trying to scrape my jaw off the floor after seeing Garance Doré’s post yesterday about being invited up to Anna Dello Russo’s hotel suite at the Ritz in Paris. The photos are stunning, and what an incredible honour for Garance to be given that access! It really is amazing the kind of opportunities that have opened up for bloggers recently. Dello Russo is the fashion director at large for Vogue Nippon, and she is without a doubt one of the most fearless women working in fashion today. You know all the outfits that you see on runways and think, “Who the eff would wear that?” Dello Russo wears those. To breakfast. Looking impeccable, of course.

It’s no surprise that she's a fashion paparazzi favourite — Dello Russo's bold style has the power to turn simple snapshots into works of art. Huge shoulders, insane heels, supershort dresses, wild texture, sequins and feathers at 9 am... I doubt she's ever encountered a piece she couldn't pull off. Dello Russo doesn't fear difficult fashion; on the contrary, she embraces it, and the trickier an item seems to be, the more she rocks it. Like Daphne Guinness and the late, great Isabella Blow, she actually has fun with fashion. What a refreshing change from the humourless fashion tryhards you see posing outside the shows, waiting to be noticed. She's the real deal.
